Biography
Minyoung Rho is a pianist and organist, whose artistry encompasses solo, chamber, and collaborative performance. Particularly committed to contemporary music, she has worked closely with living composers and has premiered and performed their works, reflecting her deep engagement with contemporary artists and new music repertoire.
As a solo pianist, Minyoung has appeared at prestigious venues throughout the United States and abroad, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Ruby Diamond Concert Hall, Opperman Music Hall, Smith Memorial Hall, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Steinway Society of Puerto Rico, TLI Art Center, Yamaha Concert Salon, and IPAC Hall. She has also appeared as a concerto soloist with Sinfonia da Camera and the Florida State University Philharmonic Orchestra.
Her recent recital at Weill Recital Hall received critical acclaim. The program featured two contemporary works by Lera Auerbach and Clifton Callender alongside with the classical masterpiece. New York Classical Review described her as "a musician who has the technique, the ear, and the sensibility," while New York Concert Review praised her "astounding technique" and "deep interpretive insight." Her performances have also been recognized with numerous awards from American Protégé International Music Competition, Singapore International Music Competition, and Rockwood Piano Competition.
In addition to her work as a pianist, Minyoung maintains an active career as an organist. She has presented solo organ recitals at St. Rita Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas, St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Thomasville, Georgia, and Faith Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, Florida. She also serves as a church organist, where she combines her passion for sacred music with an active performing career as both a solo and collaborative artist.
Born in South Korea, Minyoung earned her Doctor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Florida State University, where she also completed Master's degrees in both Piano and Organ Performance. She subsequently received the Performer's Diploma in Organ Performance at Southern Methodist University and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Seoul National University.
