Biography

Jiyuan Yang is an accomplished violinist, versatile orchestral musician, and dedicated educator.

Yang has established a dynamic presence on the orchestral and chamber music stages. As an active orchestral performer, he has served as a section violinist with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and the Topeka Symphony Orchestra. His extensive ensemble portfolio includes defining roles within the KU Symphony Orchestra, Temple University Symphony Orchestra, and Xinghai Symphony Orchestra, collaborating under the baton of distinguished conductors such as Kensho Watanabe.

An expressive soloist and passionate chamber collaborator, Yang has performed a demanding range of repertoire across prestigious venues. He has delivered numerous acclaimed solo performances, including multiple Doctoral Recitals at Swarthout Recital Hall, a Master Recital at Rock Hall, and a Bachelor Recital at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music. Beyond standard recital repertoire, Yang has enriched local arts communities through curated performances, such as the Lawrence Public Library Chamber Concert Series. He is also a sought-after collaborator for major sacred and choral masterworks, featured prominently as a soloist in Bach’s Cantatas with the Bales Chorale at the Lied Center and the traditional Lessons and Carols at the St. Lawrence Chapel. His artistic growth has been further shaped by masterclass performances for legendary violinists and elite string quartets, including Stephanie Chase, Oleg Pokharnovski, the Takács Quartet, and the Dover Quartet.
